From the ISM Archivist:

I'm going to be honest: Spoilt Candy is a mystery among the ASM scholars here at the Ring of Power, and in many ways, it's not a great one. It was strangely unaffiliated, and yet existed during that fertile ASM pocket of the late 1990s. The Guardian (of AOA fame) attempted to make contact via the guestbook, but received no reply--and then promptly forgot about it.

The main problem with Spoilt Candy is that the majority of the site (with or without missing pages) is dedicated to music and musicals, with little in the way of ASM content that's still extant...if there was even much of it in the first place, which gets a big ol' "nope" from us if that's the question.

Indeed, when it comes to ASM content, Spoilt Candy as a site is only somewhat interested in how terrible Sailor Moon is, and thus the site flew under most everyone's radar...and yet was paradoxically impactful enough to gain the attention of a German Moonie who called upon other Moonies on a foreign message board to harass ASM sites in the mid-2000s. Impactful, or perhaps just on the right person's radar--who's to say? Maybe the German Moonie tripped over Spoilt Candy because they really loved CATS. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile, and their anger is our triumph (historically speaking).

Provenance:

The site itself was re-discovered thanks to the above-mentioned foreign language Sailor Moon message board (the URL of which has been lost to time), and the actual pieces have been recovered from a combination of Guardian's records and the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. Any broken links have been disconnected entirely.

Presentation:

As you are about to see, the site is mostly intact. Some of the pages are missing, but it's not hard to get a good feel for what the entire site held in its prime given what's still available.

While we've done our best to replicate the site in as complete a way as possible, some pages are represented as screenshots instead of full html, as these are what was originally provided. If there's enough of an outcry for a reconstruction of the original html (especially considering the screenshots, few that they are, are of the non-ASM content), we'll upload and rebuild those, but not until enough people care--because we don't.

We've taken the liberty of collecting the ASM-specific pages from the site and putting links to them here--just in case you want to cut through all the crap and get to the "good stuff." But for those who would like a more authentic late 90s web experience, that option has been made available here, too.
