GOOD Anime

GOOD Anime

Not all anime is like Sailor Moon.  Honestly, most anime suffers from bad plots, cheesy animation, and 2-bit characters.  But, like Stanley Kubrick is to movies, there will always be people that stand out from the crap heap of boring and unentertaining garbage that solely gets distributed because it appeals to morons.

Hayao Miyazaki
Mi
yazaki.

Without a doubt, the best anime producer/director/screenwriter to ever hit the scene.  He's been at it for a long time, and he's extremely talented.  No animator has even come close to matching up with the level of quality his studio has, even his movies from the 80s present much better quality than today's modern animators.  You've probably never heard of him, because all attempts to bring his movies into the US were done by loser companies and big monoliths that have no real interest in his films. (Disney has been sitting on the distribution rights without releasing a movie for a long time now).  It still amazes me that Sailor Moon can be found all over the place, and most people haven't even heard of Miyazaki.

If you're interested, check out Castle of Cagliostro, Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service, info available off of Nausicaa.net

I'll post more good directors later.
